NO B.Y.O.B!! ***
Forget about bringing a private stash of beer, wine
or liquor to the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department Barbeque. All
coolers will be inspected at the entrance gate and individuals attempting to
bring alcoholic beverages into the popular event will be asked to leave the
booze behind.
Stricter enforcement of the long-standing rule comes at the request of the
California Department of Parks and Recreation. Two rangers will be present
at the event to monitor compliance. Lax enforcement would almost certainly
lead to revocation of the MBVFD’s permit to use the parking area which
is located on state property. The barbeque is the volunteer fire department’s
major fundraiser. Cancellation would be a financial disaster for the department.
Beer, wine and soft drinks will not be in short supply,
however, and will be available for purchase at the concession booth throughout
the day. Anyone buying alcohol must be wearing a color-coded wristband. The
plastic bracelets will be issued at the entrance gate after an ID check. As
usual, Marin County Sheriff’s Deputies will also be on hand, this year,
undercover agents from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board will also circulate
through the crowd.

MUIR
BEACH is one of the smallest communities in the Bay Area,
and without question one of the most beautiful. To keep it safe
for those of us who live here as well for the many visitors to
our corner of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, more than
a dozen members of our community donate a huge part of their time
serving as our VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Welcome! This is your source for Muir Beach community news,
tons of information about emergency
preparation and fire, beach & hiking safety,
facts about our Volunteer Fire Department,
and lots more. You can even do on-line browsing of our cozy and stylish Muir
Beach apparel!
